Strength and Conditioning Application Information

Application deadlines for 2023-24 academic cycle

 

First check:  ARE YOU READY TO APPLY?  YOU MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING

1. 2.75 minimum cumulative GPA and admitted to a major
2. Completed (with a C or better) or currently enrolled in prerequisite classes:  KINES 262, KINES 264, KINES 311
3.  Applicants are required to begin the minor the term immediately following their application (excluding summer sessions).  Please do not apply until you are ready to start.
4. Current certification in CPR/First Aid must be maintained during all terms within the minor.  Note: Acceptable CPR/AED certifications must include a hands-on skills performance assessment.  Documentation of current certification is required within the application.

HOW TO APPLY ONCE PREREQUISITES ARE MET

These are time-sensitive, please start collecting this material early in the term.

EARLY IN TERM

Step 1:  Complete the paperwork to clear you to be in a working WSU athletics weight room for observation hours.  CLICK ON THIS LINK for instructions.

Step 2:  2-3 weeks of Observation hours in the WSU Bohler weight room,  CLICK ON THIS LINK to know what to expect.

WITHIN A MONTH OF DEADLINE

Step 3:  Appointment with your advisor PRIOR to the application due date to specifically discuss your plan of study including the minor:  You will be required to report the date of your meeting within your application.

AT LEAST TWO WEEKS BEFORE DEADLINE

Step 4:  Bohler intern interview.  Email kim.holmstrom@wsu.edu to be assigned a current student for you to interview.  The questions you should ask are provided on this form.  There are reflection paragraph instructions.  This reflection form should be submitted within your application.

What happens after you submit?  After the deadline the S&C committee invites candidates for interviews.  Please be sure to check your email periodically after the deadline for this invitation.  A comprehensive review of applications and interviews will determine the individuals that will be invited to participate in the minor.
