A message from our chair, Kira Carbonneau
Foundational to understanding human wellbeing is the study of health, physical activity, education, and sports. In the Kinesiology and Educational Psychology department, we take on the challenge of understanding human wellbeing by developing, employing, and testing advanced methodologies to promote equity and access to education, physical activity, and healthcare.
The Department of Kinesiology and Educational Psychology offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs that prepare students to be leaders in their communities who possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to transform environments to promote human wellbeing. We offer a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and a strength and conditioning minor at the undergraduate level. Graduate degrees include a Master’s degree in Athletic Training, Kinesiology, and Educational Psychology, as well as a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology.
Our undergraduate degree in Kinesiology prepares students to be highly qualified teachers and community leaders in health education and physical education; and qualified health/fitness instructors for fitness centers, corporate fitness programs, outpatient physical therapy, and rehabilitation program. Undergraduates in this program work with faculty on interdisciplinary research projects and are prepared to further their education at the graduate level in fields such as kinesiology, physical therapy, and medical school.
Our graduate students include future athletic trainers, professionals preparing to move into leadership positions in education, public health, high school, college, or professional sports; exercise scientists, teachers training to become researchers, and all those interested in asking complex questions about the human experience during physical movement or in educational environments. Our graduate programs are led by top professionals in our respective fields and offer hands-on learning experiences from day one.
In each of our programs (links to the right), we are committed to developing professionals who will impact the health and wellness of children, adolescents, and adults. We are proud of the students, faculty, and staff who come together to meet today and tomorrow’s health and educational challenges.
