Middle-Level Math Endorsement — WSU Pullman

Middle Level Mathematics
Add-on Endorsement

Washington State University’s Middle Level Math Endorsement program is designed for new (including teacher candidates) and experienced teachers who wish to add an additional endorsement or expertise in middle level mathematics to their current certification.

The program is offered for two campus groups across the WSU system. This is the info for WSU Pullman.

*ALEKS score of 80% will substitute for MATH 106

** MATH 252 will be completed as part of the math requirements in the Elementary Teacher Education program and is not required for teachers certified in elementary education.

  • Endorsements designate the subject matter an individual is authorized to teach.
  • The Middle Level Math endorsement is for certified teachers and pre-service students seeking teacher certification.
  • The above requirements are for the teaching endorsement only and do not necessarily fulfill the requirements for a major/minor. The student is responsible for all course prerequisites and for satisfying departmental requirements for graduation.

* You can test out of Math 106 by retaking ALEKS and scoring an 80+.

** In Block III, you will do 5 weeks of Pre Internship (formerly Advanced Practicum) at the start of the semester and then return to WSU Pullman for 10 weeks of in-person classes. Your Pre Internship and Student Teaching Internship are completed at a district back home and not in the Pullman area.

^^ ^^ Three of the four sciences must be completed prior to admission into Elementary Teacher Education Program. It is required that you complete a two-course sequence of BIOLOGY 102/106 & SOE 101 and then two approved science electives. Approved science electives: ASTRONOM 135 or 138, CHEM 101, PHYSICS 101 or 150, SOE 110 or 210 or 230 or 280. Electives should be taken from two different subject areas.
