Shweta Mohan

Shweta Mohan

Service Award

Nomination highlights: “I cannot imagine a student who has done more for the Kinesiology program in so many ways. Shweta took being a part of Kinesiology very seriously. Shweta was an outstanding leader for the Kinesiology club. Throughout the years she rose in the ranks to become the President of the RSO. This position takes extracurricular to the next level, organizing the big events of Bruya-Wood conferences and blood drives each term, but also the weekly club meetings. But she didn’t stop there. Her free time was actively spent creating a strong sense of community and support for her peers within the Kinesiology program. Shweta was the lead ambassador for the Kinesiology program guiding future students who were interested in our program, making connections and first impressions that drew students to want to be a part of our major. Shweta contributed in as many outlets as possible, including being a TA for anatomy, and helping in the EPPL lab, as well as across campus by working for UREC. We are so grateful for all of the extra effort she expended being a representative for the Kinesiology program.”

  1. What are you doing after graduation?
Right now I am spending a lot of time with my family and cousins while working on grad school applications. It’s been so nice to be home again! I am also scribing at the Everett Clinic to gain more exposure to the medical profession.
  2. What are you doing/did do for your internship?
For my internship, I was hired by EXOS to serve as the first corporate wellness intern at the Nintendo Headquarters location. At Nintendo I instructed group fitness classes, created fitness programs, developed and executed wellness events, and hosted educational health talks.
  3. What is your aspiration for future profession?
Currently my goal is to become a Medical Physician. I am currently most interested in Family Medicine, however I am also drawn to sports medicine, and internal medicine. I am keeping my options open for now!
  4. What did you like most about being a part the Kinesiology program?
This question is a no-brainer… THE FACULTY!! I am beyond thankful for all of the support the faculty provided to the students within the Kinesiology program. I couldn’t have asked for more caring instructors and mentors.
  5. What advice would you give to freshman?
The advice I would give freshman is put yourself out there. Do not doubt yourself, and just get involved in whatever catches your interest as early as possible. Take advantage of your free time and shadow as many different specialties during your summer break as possible. This is the only way you will figure out what you like and what you don’t like. Don’t be afraid of your professors, they are your friends. And don’t be too hard on yourself, college is hard but you’ll get through it. Remember to have fun every once in awhile!!
  6. What are you going to miss most about WSU?
Honestly, I think I miss the family atmosphere the most. WSU really does have such a sense of pride and belonging attached to it. It was also really nice to live in a small college town where all of your friends lived 5 minutes away from you at the most. I also really miss the faculty.
