Teaching and professional interests

Dr. Rich McBride specializes in professional recruiting and field based supervision for Principal and Superintendent credential candidates. His academic focus is on Educational Leadership with a deep emphasis on building a sustainable district vision, a deeply imbedded school culture, meaningful community engagement and effective school governance models.

His research interests focus on the key aspects of “Intentional Leadership” seeking to identify the “how and why” of extraordinarily effective school leaders.

Short bio

Rich joined the College of Education in August, 2020 following a 39 year teaching and administrative career in several school districts in WA state. His undergraduate degree is from WSU with a  master’s degree from Whitworth College, and a Doctorate from WSU. Prior to this appointment, he served as an adjunct faculty member and field experience supervisor for WSU’s Superintendent’s credential program.

His wife Claudia is a retired public school teacher and daughter Kristin is a school psychologist… both are WSU alumni.
