Getting to Know You: Baylie Wilson

Baylie Wilson—Sport Management

Minor: Business Administration

Hometown: Reno, Nevada

Year: Junior

Why did you choose WSU?
I chose WSU because it is a Pac12 University and it has a great Sport Management program. WSU and Pullman are hidden gems and it is truly a magical experience to be a Coug!

What inspired you to pursue a degree in Sport Management?
I chose sport management because I have played numerous sports throughout my life and I am very passionate about sports. A degree in sport management will allow me to work with sports and athletes for my career. Making my passion for sports into a career is very exciting to me.

Have you had any experience in this area such as an internship?
My experience in sport management has been mostly in football operations and I have loved every minute of it. I have helped with the WSU women’s football clinic, the “walk on” tryouts, pro day, end of year banquet as well as, every day operations of the football program. Other than football operations, I have experience in sports nutrition, events, and compliance. All of which were valuable experiences that taught me a lot.

What do you hope to get out of your career?
I hope to enjoy work every day. With that, I hope to impact the lives of athletes and others around me. I hope to continue learning every day and ultimately, leave my mark on the world in some way.

Do you have any advice for incoming freshmen pursuing this degree?
My advice for incoming freshmen is to not be afraid of the practicums, they are one of the most valuable aspects of the sport management program so take advantage of the experiences and you will be thankful for it.
