#TeacherToBeTuesday: Fernanda Mendoza

Fernanda Mendoza – Elementary Education

Year in school: Senior

Hometown: Richland, WA

What are you studying? Elementary Education with an endorsement in Multilingual Learners.

Why are you studying Teacher Education?

I will never forget my first grade teacher. She not only taught me my foundations of academics but of life too. She truly shaped me as a student and a person. I want to be able to do that for the little humans too.

Why did you choose WSU?

I chose WSU because the culture that surrounds the school is unlike any other.

What’s been your favorite part of the WSU experience thus far?

My favorite experience has been the friendships I have made that have now become family. Meeting girls freshman year who are now my roommates and will forever be lifelong friends.

As a college, we’re focusing on our people being agents of change. What makes you an agent of change?

As a teacher I will ensure that every student feels safe and loved no matter who they are or what background they come from.
