Where Are You Wednesday: Natalie Startin

#WhereAreYouWednesday w/ Natalie Startin

Date: March 02, 2022

Tell us a little about your background. Where you from or grow up? Did you go to WSU? What did you study at WSU?

I was born and raised in Pullman, WA. I graduated from WSU in 2019. While at WSU, I got my bachelors in Athletic Training. After WSU, I went to Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana and got my Masters in Health and Wellness Management in 2021.

What has been your favorite thing about WSU, as well as the College of Education?

My favorite thing about WSU is the family atmosphere, there is nothing quite like living in Pullman and attending WSU.

My favorite thing about the College of Education is Katy Pietz and Kasee Hildenbrand, words cannot explain how amazing these two individuals are. I would not be where I am, with out these two!

What do you currently do? Tell us about your NOW life!

Currently I am Assistant Athletic Trainer at Oregon State University working with their Football Team. I started in this position January of 2022. I cannot wait until we play WSU in Pullman in 2023, it will be a very surreal moment for me. Before this, I was a Seasonal Athletic Trainer with the Seattle Seahawks for the 2021 season.

What makes you an agent of change?

I believe what makes me an agent of change is being a Black Woman working in a male dominated profession of Football. I was the first Female Seasonal Athletic Trainer with the Seattle Seahawks in 2021. Being able to be an advocate for future Athletic Trainers has been a dream of mine since I was an Athletic Training Student at WSU.
