Washington State University offers an Ed.D. degree tailored to the needs of working professionals, with specializations in community college leadership, educational leadership, and teacher leadership. The four-year, part-time program combines distance learning with limited time spent on WSU campuses in Pullman, Spokane, Tri-Cities, or Vancouver. There is also an Ed.D. specialization in higher education administration, which can be earned on a full-time or part-time basis in Pullman.

  • Community college leadership

    (Spokane, Pullman)
    This program is designed to appeal to students who currently work in community colleges, or are interested in moving into administrative positions of increasing leadership and responsibility in that sector of higher education.
  • Educational leadership

    (all campuses)
    The program provides a balance and integration of practical experience, theory, and research and aims to prepare K-12 educational leaders who function as scholar-practitioners.
  • Higher education administration

    (Pullman)
    This professional degree is typically earned by those who will occupy positions of leadership and applied specialties in public or private educational organizations or related fields.
  • Teacher leadership

    (all campuses)
    The specialization in teacher leadership is designed to prepare K-16 teachers and teacher leaders for intellectual and practical leadership within classrooms, schools, districts, and the larger educational policy arena.
