Teacher ProCert program of study
The 2009-2010 WSU Teacher Professional Certification Program (ProCert) reflects recent legislative changes to the requirements. The Teacher ProCert program consists of six semester credits total; two 3-credit courses. The first course is the “Pre-assessment Seminar” (T&L 541) that introduces teachers to the current portfolio requirements and directions/guidelines for each of the three entries. Areas of improvement or enhancement are identified based on the self assessment conducted during the Pre-assessment course. The second course is the Culminating Seminar (T&L 543), in which you will further develop your teaching skills and refine your portfolio of evidence for the three entries.
Teachers may complete their professional growth choices (formerly referred to as the “Core”) concurrently with the Pre-assessment and Culminating Seminar. Currently, there are no credit and/or clock hour requirements for completing identified professional development areas.
The Pre-assessment and Culminating Seminar may count toward an advanced degree in the Department of Teaching and Learning at WSU. For more information about earning a Master’s degree while working on your ProCert, contact the Office of Graduate Studies in the College of Education at gradstudies@wsu.edu or (509) 335-9195.
