The president’s budget forum

On Friday, the president, provost, and chief budget officer led a budget forum in Pullman. As I was out of town, I watched online as President Elson S. Floyd gave a hard-hitting and plainly spoken overview of the difficult state budget and how it could affect the university.

He had no clear answers for us, as the Legislature is still in session and the situation changes almost daily. A new revenue forecast is expected on March 17, and we should know more in the coming weeks. College administrators are being asked to plan, but we’ll need solid information on which to base decisions. I will keep the college and our constituents informed as I know more.

For those of you on spring break, enjoy it and travel safely.
