Nominations for Kinesiology Senior Awards

KINESIOLOGY SENIOR AWARD NOMINATION MUST INCLUDE:

  • Statement of support
    A senior graduating with the WSU Kinesiology Major academic calendar year may be nominated by faculty, staff, or peer within the WSU Kinesiology program. Tailor your statement of support to one specific category, the requirements of which are listed below. There is no limit to the number of letters of support that may be submitted with a nomination.  HOWEVER, each statement must be 200 words or less.
  • Additional supporting documents (optional)
    If there are any other documents that will help to support the nomination of a student for an award please feel free to submit these as well. Documents could include newspaper articles, papers written by the student, art samples, etc.

The requirements to be nominated are to be a senior within the end of the current academic calendar year graduating with the major of Kinesiology

Nominations are due by Friday, March 25 at midnight

Additional specific information for each category are as follows:


RESEARCH

Nominees for this category may include seniors that demonstrated effort and passion for the latest research within Kinesiology. They might be a team leader and face of one of our research labs. This individual will no doubt be a competitive applicant for a Research focused Graduate Program in the future.

Please describe:

  • A list of research roles this student has fulfilled, including length of involvement
  • A list of any publishing contributions
  • A list of any presentations (conference or for lab promotion) based upon their research
  • Any additional information as it pertains to the nomination category

LEADERSHIP

Nominees for this category may include seniors that are known for their leadership in their community, clubs on campus, research labs, or TA labs. This person does not let an opportunity get away. They always try to get as involved as possible.

Please describe:

  • A list of leadership positions that the student has fulfilled
  • Any observations on the influences this student has had while in a leadership position
  • Any contribution to major changes within an organization that the student has led
  • Any additional information as it pertains to the nomination category

INSPIRATIONAL

Nominees for this category may include seniors that are known for their ability to maintain a positive outlook that influences their peers, faculty, and community. They are a role model for their fellow students and some people question if they are actually a college student because of how well “put together” they are.

Please describe:

  • personal experiences with the student that changed your outlook for the positive
  • observational experiences with the student where you recognized the influence the student has on others around them
  • Any additional information as it pertains to the nomination category

ACADEMICS

Nominees for this category may include seniors that are known for high academic performance, with excellence in GPA and efforts within the classroom environment. This person has the highest GPA in the program or they have maintained one of the highest GPAs for the longest duration of time.

Please describe:

  • Knowledge and skills gained, and how those will be applied in future career/life pursuits
  • Any academic awards and/or recognition from colleges and national organizations
  • Involvement in WSU registered student organizations, including leadership positions
  • Involvement in Honorary/Professional Societies
  • Research endeavors/papers published
  • Student’s cumulative GPA
  • Any additional information as it pertains to the nomination category

WORK ETHIC

This person is extremely resilient. Their effort for learning and mastery of material is apparent by their behaviors. They are known for attending office hours, asking questions, and really trying to learn the material for long-term knowledge. Strong self-efficacy is apparent for this individual. Obstacles motivate this person to work even harder. Failures fuel this type of student.

  • Personal experiences with the student that highlight their work ethic and resilience
  • Observational experiences with the student where you recognized the influence the student has on peer’s success
  • Any additional information as it pertains to the nomination category

CAMPUS AND COMMUNITY SERVICE

This student goes above and beyond to get involved and serve their community and campus. They are seen dedicating their spare time away from classes to volunteerism.  This can include outreach to Pullman community programs, or extensive involvement in (but not limited to): ASWSU, registered student organizations, university committees, hall governments, fraternities, sororities, etc.

Please describe:

  • All activities, including length of participation, number of hours served and the impact on the target audience(s)
  • Leadership roles related to their community service involvement
  • Awards and recognition for their campus/community involvement
  • A list of any off-campus community service projects
  • Student’s impact on WSU Pullman campus
  • Student’s future career goals
  • Any additional information as it pertains to the nomination category

NOTE: Students may be nominated in more than one category, but can only be chosen as a winner in one category.
