Getting to Know You: Sierra McCann-Morgan
Sierra McCann-Morgan – Athletic Training
Year in school: Junior
Hometown: Tacoma, WA
Why are you studying this? What do you hope to do with it after you graduate?
I started doing athletic training in high school and loved it! I wanted to continue studying sports medicine and WSU has a unique expedited 5-year master’s for Athletic Training. After graduation, I plan on pursuing certifications as an orthopedic surgical assistant.
Why did you choose WSU?
A lot of my family went here. My stepdad is a Coug and really influenced my decision. He was ASWSU president and loved his experience here. I also chose WSU because of the Athletic Training program!
What’s been your favorite part of the experience thus far?
My favorite part of WSU has been the connections I’ve made. I have made so many new friends through Greek life, Athletic Training, WSU classes, and family connections. I love having my family come to town and be on campus with me.
What’s been the biggest challenge so far?
My biggest challenge was applying and getting into the Athletic Training program. It is extremely selective and required a lot of hard work.
As a college, we’re starting to focus more on our people being agents of change. What makes you an agent of change?
I feel like I’m an agent of change because I help athletes feel better every day. Whether it’s giving a massage, helping with rehab, or talking an athlete through an injury, I’m helping improve their lives and athletic performance.
