Getting to Know You: Kazuki Kurosawa
Kazuki Kurosawa – Athletic Training
Year in school: Junior
Hometown: Ibaraki, Japan
Why are you studying Athletic Training? What do you hope to do with it after you graduate?
I am studying Athletic Training because I am passionate about human/joint movement, biomechanics of sports and injury prevention. There are so many athletes facing/undergoing injuries who seek help to perform at a competitive level. It is an excellent opportunity to work with high-skilled certified Athletic Trainers and WSU athletes. My short term goal (after graduation) is to work for elite athletes, from youth to professionals. I hope to provide quality care for such athletes and assist the best of their hard work.
Why did you choose WSU?
I chose WSU because there are many great faculty members and opportunities for clinical experiences. In addition, I love Pullman’s welcoming atmosphere, sense of unity, and inclusiveness, not only in the WSU community but in the entire town.
What’s been your favorite part of the WSU experience thus far?
Hands-on learning opportunity in the clinical experiences and safe and inclusive community.
What’s been the biggest challenge so far?
Not a lot to access to a city life.
As a college, we’re focusing on our people being agents of change. What makes you an agent of change?
I think I would be an agent of change because my perception of diversity and unity gained through my experiences of living in different countries – Japan, Australia, Canada and the U.S. – can bring more diversity and quality of oneness in the WSU community. I believe having a dialog with my peers and sharing my experiences can bring a sense of wholeness to people in the world, contributing to an overall sense of unity.
