What are you studying at WSU?

Elementary Education with a minor in Human Development

Why are you studying Elementary Education? What do you hope to do with this after you graduate?

I have always wanted to be a teacher since I was in elementary school. I love being around little children and am so inspired by their creativity and excitement for learning. I want to make a positive impact on the lives of my students and make a difference in the world, which is why I decided to become a teacher. After I graduate, I hope to accept a job as a second or third grade teacher.

Why did you choose WSU?

I chose WSU because of the supportive Coug community and because of the accredited teaching program. I visited Pullman for the first time on a Cougar football Saturday and I loved the contagious energy and instantly fell in love.

What’s been your favorite part of the WSU experience thus far?

My favorite part of my WSU experience thus far was serving as Chapter President of my sorority, Alpha Gamma Delta. I learned so much during the time I served in that role and I made lifelong friendships. I have also loved the Elementary Education program thus far. All of my professors have been so amazing. I always leave my classes feeling inspired to be the best possible teacher I can be.

What’s been the biggest challenge so far?

The biggest challenge so far has been COVID-19. Online school was less interactive than in-person class, and I really missed being on campus and having typical social interactions with my classmates and friends.

As a college, we’re focusing more on our people being agents of change. What makes you an agent of change?

I am an agent of change because of my dedication and passion for improving the lives of my studetns and all children. I am very passionate about creating an inclusive and equitable classroom environment. As a future educator, I strive to be an advocate for equal access to opportunities for all students.
