Getting to Know You: Lily Holston

Lily Holston – WSU ROAR

Hometown: Winthrop, WA

What led you to WSU?

I always wanted to go to college from a very young age. I looked at a couple other colleges then applied to the WSU ROAR program. None of my other family members brought me here. I kind of found it on my own.

What do you think of the ROAR program so far?

It’s interesting. I really like it. We have ALAs (Assistive Learning Advisors) that plan events for us and do fun things with us. I wish the ROAR classes were harder. The homework is a lot easier in ROAR classes than outside of ROAR. If I could work at it more, I think it could be a bit more fun. I really want to challenge myself.

What is your career focus?

I want to be a veterinarian. When I was younger I picked a lot of different things I said I wanted to do in life. I picked vets as a senior project and worked at a vet clinic for an internship. It was interesting and that sent me down that path.

What is your favorite experience so far?

Learning different things and trying new classes out.

Do you feel homesick often?

So far, nope! The first day I was, but I haven’t been since then. I used to get homesick, but now that I’m older I haven’t been as much.

What do you like to do after class?

I will go back home and work on animal science homework.
