Why did you choose Washington State University?
Choosing WSU was pretty easy, but getting here was a littel harder. Coming from Czech Republic and not knowing about U.S. schools made my decision straight forward. I knew I wanted to continue with rowing and the opportunity to come to WSU for athletic scholarship was my dream. I knew other girls who were in the team already, and I heard only great things about the rowing program and about the kinesiology program. The combination of these two things I loved made my decision clear.

What inspired you to pursue a degree in kinesiology?
I find it very fascinating how our body works and what all it does for us, even without our consciousness and awareness. Because I love sports and I was very active since I was a child, movement and body function was a huge part of my life that I cannot imagine living without. Knowing more about our bodies and understanding how all the processes are made is helping me to be a better athlete and to take care of my body as it deserves.

What is your dream job after college?
I would like to own a well being center with my family, where people would find natural sources for healing processes. Because I think that everything in our body is very connection, I want to connect all the sources of healthy living. From practicing yoga and finding a balanced dietary plan, to acupuncture, psychology and physiotherapy. By this way, I want to educate people about health and how to have a happier and better quality life.

What, or who, motivates you as a student?
I feel as a student, I am motivated from every corner. Besides my relatives who were excellent students, I am motivated by my teammates, classmates and professors. Seeing other students who are pursuing their dreams and who are sacrificing other things to be at school makes me feel even more appreciative of the opportunity we have and how lucky we are being able to get education we want. A big part of my motivation is the vision of my dream job that will help other people and the job I would feel passionate about. I think that having a job that is our hobby too is something that everyone should have.

What kind of extracurricular activities are you a part of?
I am part of the women’s varsity rowing team.
