Getting to Know You: Kaitlin Bisbee

Kaitlin Bisbee – Elementary Education

Hometown: Tampa, Florida

Year: Sophomore

What made you come to WSU?

I used to live in Anacortes, so I kind of consider Washington home.

What inspired you to become a teacher?

I grew up moving all the time and teachers are something you can rely on. My dad was deployed a lot and they were kind of role models for me. I want to be that good influence on kids.

What advice do you have for incoming freshmen?

Go to class. Do your homework and get involved because you will be here for a while.

What grade do you want to teach?

Kindergarten! Before coming to WSU, I was working at an after school care program. I was in charge of 50 kindergarten students. I was originally going to do science education, but that changed my mind.

What impact do you hope to make on your students?

I want to be that teacher that people remember because they made the classroom a welcoming place. I want kids to be excited to learn, not dread going to school.
