What impact do you hope to make on your future students?

My goal as a teacher is to create lifelong learners. I want to instill in all of my students a love of learning and an excitement to experiment with new ideas. I hope my students leave my classroom with confidence to tackle challenges as well as knowing how to treat others with respect and compassion.

Do you have any advice for incoming freshmen?

All professors are teachers too, so take note of how they run their classes and glean different strategies from them. I would also advise incoming freshmen to the education department to be proud of their future profession because it really does change lives.

What are you most passionate about when it comes to being a teacher?

Teaching is not simply about showing children how to write, do math, read, etc. I am passionate about making students feel skillful, significant, and smart. With the right attitude about themselves, I believe every student can achieve anything they put their mind to. Therefore, my job is to help students create an identity as a bright and competent individual, capable of success.

Why do you want to become a teacher?

There are very few jobs in the world where you have the ability to directly influence the future. As a teacher, I will have the privilege of shaping the future one child at a time, and it is a position I am honored to take on.
