Why do you want to become a teacher?

I have the passion to teach students about something new. I also feel like I was that student who didn’t know what I wanted to be. Teachers really influenced me and I’d like to be that person for students; someone who can help them be the best they can be and help them through hard times.

What are you most passionate about when it comes to being a teacher?

Having a relationship with my future students and really connecting with them. I would like to make education really fun.

Who inspired you to become a teacher?

Krystal Lee Adolph. She helped me through my tough times and took me to many college field trips to help me decided what I wanted to be. She’s an overall caring person and any student could go to her for help, whether it was in class or not. I’m not sure I would have decided to go to college until she positively influenced me.

Do you have any advice for incoming freshman?

Definitely stay on top of your work. Time management is a really important thing. Also, having a social life can help you a lot. That includes classmates as friends, so if you’re having a hard time or struggling, they’re there to help you. Make sure you’re focused on what you really want in life. If you’re struggling, go to a mentor, peer ally, or others to help.

What kind of extracurricular activities are you a part of?

I am a very outdoorsy person. I went camping recently with a couple of my friends. I love volleyball so I will go with friends to play that. I go and work out almost every day, just because it helps me mentally and physically. I also am really passionate about cheer.
