Getting to Know You: Brandon Scarpaci

Brandon Scarpaci — Elementary Education

Endorsement: Math

Hometown: Tacoma, WA

Year: Junior

Why do you want to become a teacher?
I absolutely love working with children! My first time working with kids was as a camp counselor during the summer of 2016 at the YMCA. Before this job, I was a Business Management major, but I immediately changed to Elementary Education my next semester. Every time I get to work with kids they make me smile and brighten my day! I hope that I will have the same impact on my students on day.

What impact do you hope to make on future students?
I want to make a positive impact on all of my future students! This can be different for every student because every kid that comes into my classroom won’t have the same needs. I want to be able to fill the needs of the students, and build a positive environment that makes the students want to come to school. If I can make a positive impact on every one of my students then I know I have done my job.

Do you have any advice for incoming freshmen?
Find something that you are passionate about and pursue it! When I first started here at WSU, I chose my major based on something I “thought” I would like, and that could pay well. I quickly learned that it won’t make me the happiest, and rather I should choose something I love.
