Getting to Know You: Lena Osterberg

Lena Osterberg- Kinesiology with a minor in Japanese

Hometown: Edmonds, Washington
Year in School: Junior

Who, or what, influenced your decision to pursue this degree?

After taking my human anatomy course, taught by my favorite teacher, Dr. Morgan, I was influenced to pursue this degree. I have always enjoyed sports, exercise, and health but after taking human anatomy my sophomore year, I clearly recognized my interest  in learning about the many aspects of the human body like function and movement. Dr. Morgan was also such an enthusiastic and passionate teacher that made the class experience so great and memorable. So, I became a Kinesiology major and have been glad with my decision ever since!

Was pursing this degree always your plan?

No, pursuing this degree was not always my plan. My freshman year here, I came in with an interest in animal science with thoughts of becoming a veterinarian or veterinarian assistant. Although I really enjoyed the hands on animal labs, I realized that this was not the path that I wanted to take.

What is your dream job after college?

My dream job after college is to become a physical therapist. I am not sure about what setting I would like to work in or if I would like to specialize in something yet but I am sure I will figure that out later down the road!

What kind of extracurricular activities are you a part of?

I am a member and officer of the WSU Swim Club as well as a member of the WSU Pre-PT/OT Club. I also enjoy doing intramural sports such as soccer and softball.
