Under the Skin: An introspective look at the Self (Oct. 6)
October 5, 2016 @ 5:00 pm - October 6, 2016 @ 7:00 am
Free
Welcome everyone to these two months of gatherings and creation (October & November 2016). Our final goal is making a collective piece: A MURAL!! and yes, writing letters to send a message accross campus and local communities about who we are and how we want to be perceived. This series of workshops are aimed at de-constructing stereotypical representations of “the other” by questioning labels like: ‘people of color’. This Project invites members of the academic community at WSU and University of Idaho to take an introspective look at who we are and how we want to be perceived. Literature, photography, creative writing, and painting will be used to guide the workshops, develop critical dialogues, and make art.
Workshop 1: Labels & Stereotypes: What does it mean to be a person of color?
