Many who train for and participate in ultra-endurance events are unable to successfully complete. Anecdotal and preliminary empirical evidence suggests serious injury and life-threatening situations sometimes result. Our access to and management of medical and performance data for thousands of elite ultra-endurance triathletes spanning three decades will allow for an understanding of the crucial factors which lead to success and prevent an emergency.
This discussion will be facilitated by Dr. Chris Connolly. He directs the Exercise Physiology & Performance Laboratory within the Department of Kinesiology and Educational Psychology. His recent work focuses on ultra-endurance performance, particularly as it pertains to the female athlete. He is the Co-Director of the recently-commissioned Global Triathlon Safety Database.
