KIN_ACTV 106 Self Defense

In this class you will learn the fundamentals of self-defense with a wide array of disciplines including Judo, Boxing, Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling, Muay Thai and others for a wide base of defensive skills.

 

 

KIN_ACTV 108 Karate

In this class, you will learn the basics and fundamentals of karate and self-defense with a wide variety of disciplines.

KIN_ACTV 109 Beginning Golf, 110 Intermediate Golf, and  111 Advanced Golf

The purpose of beginning golf is to teach the fundamentals of the golf swing, gain a basic understanding of each club, when it should be used, and provide a regular and consistent practice time. As a beginner, if you utilize the class time you have, you will see great improvement in your game.

Students enrolling in intermediate golf should already have a basic knowledge and skill of golf and will be building on their current skill level.  Students will spend time working on all aspects of the game.

Students enrolling in advanced golf  should already have thorough knowledge and skill of golf and will be building on their current skill level through practice and live play.  In addition to practice, students will spend at least four 9 hole rounds on the Palouse Ridge Golf Course.  

EXTRA FEE: $42/student (the fee is for golf course rental), and additional $45/student for ADVANCED golf for using golf course.

Class meets at the Practice Range area behind the (Outdoor Recreation Center). Follow the gravel road to the range. 

 

 

 

KIN_ACTV 112 Beginning Weight Training and 141 Introduction to Olympic Lifting

In these classes, you will learn the basics and fundamentals of weight training and olympic lifting. This includes but is not limited to: Learning the health benefits of weight training, gaining knowledge about weight training, learning about the equipment and the purposes, setting goals and lifting with a purpose, identifying anatomy associated with lifts, and learning/applying proper technique, intensity, and rep ranges.

 

 

 

KIN_ACTV 115 Couch to 5k

Couch to 5k is a class designed to teach those of all ability levels how to integrate running into their lives. In this course, you will learn the fundamentals of running, build fitness, and set short-term and long-term goals. You will learn about essential components of running, as well as how to build training plans to accommodate your goals.

KIN_ACTV 118 Yoga

This class will incorporate different aspects of yoga and will involve linking several poses together to create strength, flexibility, endurance, and balance. 

 

 

KIN_ACTV 120 Beginning Ballet 

In this class, you will learn about posture, different steps, and choreography. Ballet improves strength, coordination, and control of your body movements.

 

 

KIN_ACTV 124 Beginning Tennis and 125 Intermediate Tennis

In the beginning class, students will be introduced to the fundamentals of tennis and will build on their current skill level through practice and live play.

In the intermediate class, students will build upon skills above a beginner level.

 

 

 

KIN_ACTV 130 and 131 Beginning and Intermediate Volleyball

In the beginning volleyball class, you will learn the basics and fundamentals of volleyball skills and rules (passing and setting, serving, hitting, rotations and playing).

In the intermediate volleyball class, you will build on your current skill level through skill practice and live play.  

 

 

KIN_ACTV 132 Beginning Soccer and 133 Intermediate Soccer

In these classes, you will learn the basics and fundamentals of the sport of soccer including but not limited to: Controlling the soccer ball (stopping, dribbling, and shooting), formations, positions, and game scenarios, rules, and working as a team.

 

 

KIN_ACTV 134 Ultimate Frisbee

In this class, you will learn the basics and fundamentals of ultimate frisbee (rules, basic throwing and catching, basic positions, and starting formations).

KIN_ACTV 135 Beginning Fencing 

In beginning fencing you will learn the basics and fundamentals of beginning fencing including basic footwork, basic foil blade work, priority or right of way, basic directing, and how to fence safely.

 

KIN_ACTV 137 Beginning Bowling and 139 Intermediate Bowling

In the beginning bowling class, students will learn the basics and fundamentals of bowling including but not limited to: Strategies, techniques, and scoring. This course is suitable for individuals of all fitness levels.

In the intermediate class the strategies, techniques, and scoring will be at the highest level and students will build upon prior knowledge and experience.

EXTRA FEE: $47.40/student (the fee is for using bowling facility at Zeppos)

KIN_ACTV 147 Basketball 3-on-3

In this class, you will learn basic game rules and strategies through practice and live play. 

KIN_ACTV 156 FITNESS BOXING 

In this class, you will learn the basics and fundamentals of fitness boxing including basic boxing stance, footwork, punches, and defense. 

 

 

 

KIN_ACTV 160 BARRE

In this class, you will learn the basics and fundamentals of barre (yoga, Pilates, ballet, musicality, and anatomy).

 

 

 

KIN_ACTV 168 ZUMBA

In Zumba class, you will learn the basics and fundamentals of a Zumba workout and will learn how to create your own exercise routine. 

KIN_ACTV 170 WOMEN’S SELF DEFENSE

In this class, you will learn the basics and fundamentals of woman’s self-defense (introduction to different defensive approaches).

KIN_ACTV 172 MEDITATION

In this class, you will learn the basics and fundamentals of traditional meditation.

KIN_ACTV 174 PILATES

This class offers students an experience with practicing the basics and fundamentals of Pilates. In this class you will learn basic anatomy, core and body exercises, stretching, and how to move with the Pilates principals of centering, concentration, control, precision, breath, and flow.

KIN_ACTV 100 Special Topics

These classes include a variety of activity courses including Capoeira, beginning hip hop dance, fitness exploration, and mindfulness exploration. 

KIN_ACTV 150 Pickleball for Beginners

In this class, you will learn the basics and fundamentals of pickleball (serves, stances, rules, and game strategy). 

KIN_ACTV 129 Conditioning Swim

You should be able to swim one length of the pool and have some understanding of the fundamentals of swimming before enrolling in this class. There is a special course fee of $60 to cover the cost of a lifeguard and equipment.
