Welcome to the National Aquatics & Sports Medicine Institute at Washington State University. Our studies began in 2006, and the institute was created in 2008 to provide cutting-edge research into the health effects of aquatic activity and the most efficient ways of using aquatic activity in sports training, rehabilitation and health maintenance. We’re pleased to be part of the College of Education, which is home to WSU’s athletic training and health and fitness programs. The institute has already achieved international recognition, and we have published articles in both peer-reviewed journals and the lay press. Aquatic immersion has significant benefits to the vital cardiovascular, central nervous, circulatory and respiratory systems. Our goal is to promote a healthier America through aquatic activity.

Vision

The National Aquatics & Sports Medicine Institute will be the nation's leading provider of research supporting the role of aquatic activity in health maintenance and recovery, providing research opportunities and educational involvement for students while supporting the health needs of WSU athletes and the general student body.
