Welcome and introduction

Len FosterLen Foster, Associate Dean
for Research and Graduate Studies

Are taxpayers getting the biggest bang for the bucks they’re investing in programs to help children succeed?  Are university degree programs designed in the best possible way to launch professional careers?

Never have such questions received more attention, and answers been more urgently needed. That’s where Mike Trevisan comes in. The College of Education professor directs our Assessment and Evaluation Center. Since its founding in 1997, the center has produced solid information about what works, and what doesn’t, in the preparation of students from kindergarten through college. Nowhere else in Washington is such assessment work being done within an academic environment, where graduate students can participate.

Mike Trevisan is just one of the many researchers at the College of Education whose work provides answers to some of the most critical educational questions of our day. They work in the Department of Teaching & Learning, and the Department of Educational Leadership & Counseling Psychology. They work on each of our four campuses, and are networked throughout the country and the world.  Their expertise ranges from school reform to Native American education, from athletic training to multicultural counseling.

I hope you will enjoy perusing our web site, and learning more about our faculty and their interests. Feel free to contact the researchers, or me, if you have any questions.

Associate Professor Jennifer Beller researches the effects of steroids and human growth hormone on both athletes and “baby boomers” looking for a fountain of youth.  She discussed her findings at a College of Education Research Forum.
