Clearinghouse on Native Teaching & Learning

Internet resources for teachers

List by:

With the increase in diversity, many teachers see the value of becoming aware of the similarities and differences among their students. The Clearinghouse on Native Teaching and Learning has developed the following matrix as a list of web sites designed to assist teachers in meeting the needs of Native children.

The matrix is designed to share research and information on American Indian and Alaska Native education that can led to insights and strategies on how to develop lesson plans. There is a link and a brief description for each web site. Within the matrix, the sites are arranged into six different themes or clusters. These include:

  • Sites dedicated to research on Native American education
  • Authors or bibliographical information on Native American literature
  • Curriculum and lesson plan resources
  • Links to the web sites of organizations dedicated to the advancement of Native Americans
  • Index sites

Clearinghouse on Native Teaching & LearningUsing the brief site descriptions, readers can quickly scan for specific information, or use an index web site to pursue different avenues of interest.

In addition, a selection of the web sites have been evaluated by Native American teachers. The information compiled from their evaluations are listed. Sites evaluated by this group of educators are marked with asterisks.

If you find additional sites to add to the matrix, please use the Rating Rubric to give a rating to each new site and email the resulting information to mpavel@wsu.edu.

Thank you.
