ELL thematic units for teachers
The following are thematic units for use in your classroom:
- Amazon - A few lessons for students about the Amazon Rain Forest.
- Cooking - Some great ideas for cooking many diverse foods and lots of web sites
- Cranes - Use the book Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes to introduce the concepts of Memorial Day and memorial monuments by "finishing" Sadako's cranes.
- El Ser - A bilingual thematic unit for beginning level High School Spanish class.
- Family - A thematic unit for grades 4-6 integrating reading, writing, listening and speaking.
- Owls - A fun unit for lower grades integrating ELL standards into the mainstream curriculum.
- Planets -This unit on the solar system designed for a 5th grade intermediate ELL class can be adapted for other grades and levels.
- Spanish - Five spanish lessons 10th-11th grade levels
- Weather - This is Michelle McDonald and Heather Morley's resource guide to weather thematic units. (Really Cool!)
