The priority deadline for admission to the Teacher Leadership EdD program is January 10 for summer admission. Applicants meeting this deadline will have first priority for full consideration into the programs, as well as for available assistantships and funding.
Applications received between January 11 and March 15 may be reviewed on a space available basis. Students are encouraged to meet the January 10 deadline for full consideration.
The following items must be submitted directly to the WSU Graduate School in addition to the online application:
- Letter of intent which must include: 1) the reason for pursuing a graduate degree, 2) a description of teaching or other life experience that relates to graduate study, 3) a commitment to scholarship or professional development, 4) a specific research or inquiry interest, 5) the unique perspective you would bring to the graduate program, and, if applying for an assistantship, 6) why you would be an effective teacher at the college level.
- Official transcripts showing all previous college or university coursework
- Three letters of recommendation which must address your 1) interpersonal skills, 2) scholarship, 3) experience with children or youth, and 4) facility with written, oral, and interpersonal communication. In addition, if appyling for a teaching assistantship, one of the letters must also address your effectiveness as a teacher.
- Writing Sample: This must be a formal, academic writing sample such as a thesis or paper.
