Block I – T&L 402

Block I: Provides students with a foundation for understanding and articulating issues related to instructional strategies, literacy, technology, and assessment.

Field Component- 45 hours, K-8 classroom experience

Block II – T&L 405

Block II: Builds on the fundamental principles of Block I emphasizing classroom management and effective strategies for teaching science, including the integration of reading and literacy in this content area.

Block III – T&L 490

The Advanced Practicum, T&L 490, is particularly important as it comes immediately before student teaching.  The experience provides the following for the preservice teachers:

  • Allows preservice teachers to learn about and experience the culture of schools and the everyday life of classrooms, teachers, and children;
  • Provides preservice teachers with opportunities to practice their teaching and classroom management skills by teaching lessons and planning with cooperating teachers;
  • Offers preservice teachers the experiences that will enhance their potential for a successful and productive student teaching experience.
