Department Chair
Welcome to the Department of Educational Leadership and
Counseling Psychology. Our faculty include some of the
most outstanding scholars in their fields—which
range from sports law to multicultural
counseling—and many hold national and international
leadership positions in their professional organizations.
Research and scholarship are critical components of the
department, and our students have many opportunities to
collaborate with faculty in ongoing research.
Our mission is to address the needs of communities, individuals, and educational institutions in a diverse society through leadership, scholarship, collaboration, and professional practice.
We offer both undergraduate and graduate programs, some of which are delivered at more than one of our four campuses. Our undergraduate programs include athletic training (which is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education), movement studies, sport management, and health and fitness teacher certification. Graduate programs include counseling, counseling psychology (accredited by the American Psychological Association), educational leadership, educational psychology, and higher education. Our doctoral program in educational leadership was the first statewide doctorate offered at WSU, and is a cohort-based program designed to meet the needs of school administrators across the state of Washington.
In addition to our degree programs, we offer the school psychologist certification, which is a joint program with the Spokane campus and Eastern Washington University, and field-based superintendent and principal certification programs. Please click on the following link for a detailed description of our programs and curriculum requirements (click here).
Our faculty are eager to assist you with questions about future possibilities at WSU. I invite you to explore our site further and welcome the opportunity to visit with you in Pullman or to help you arrange a visit at one of our other campuses.
