Lindsay Lightner advises undergraduate education majors and Masters in Teaching (MIT) students at WSU Tri-Cities. She also advises prospective education students regarding program entry and aids in recruiting students from area community colleges. She helps students to explore their options within education and to choose coursework that will meet graduation and certification requirements. She acts as liaison between students and the College of Education's certification office, and assists in academic program development and administration.
Lightner holds a BA in geology from Carleton College and an MA from the Writing Seminars at the Johns Hopkins University. She has held posts as a middle school science teacher in New York City, an English instructor and advisor at Pennsylvania State University's main campus, and a lecturer and student teacher supervisor at Canterbury Christ Church University for London, England's Teach First program.
She is winner of the WSU Academic Advising Association's 2008-09 Outstanding Achievement in Academic Advising Award in the New Advisor – Primary Role category.
