Research interests
Paul E. Pitre's research focuses on racial/ethnic minority and low socioeconomic status students’ experiences in the college choice process and factors that enhance student aspirations for college attendance. Similarly, Pitre is interested in the role that school context plays in developing student college related aspirations. He is also interested in students’ perceptions of their preparation for life beyond K-12 education.
Teaching/professional interests
With an interest in issues that span the P-16 educational spectrum, Pitre’s academic foci include state, federal and institutional level leadership and governance; education in the political arena, and the role of equity in educational policy. He also has an interest in international comparative education. Pitre teaches the Politics of Education, Policy Analysis, Equity and Diversity in Educational Policy, Administration of Higher Education, and Issues in Student Affairs.
