Research interests
Forrest W. Parkay's research interests include
international education and cross-national
partnerships. A former Fulbright Scholar, Parkay is the
organizer of the International Study of Higher
Education Governance (ISHEG). The first phase of ISHEG
has compared governance in the U.S.A., China, and
Thailand. Parkay is also a member of a team of
researchers studying beginning principals in Western
countries (USA, UK, Belgium, Canada, Netherlands, etc.)
and Eastern countries (Thailand, China, Korea, Taiwan,
etc.), as part of the International Beginning Principal
Study (IBPS).
Teaching/professional interests
Forrest W. Parkay teaches Social Foundations of
Education, Improvement of Instruction, Basic Principles
of Curriculum Design, Curriculum Implementation,
Supervision, In-service Programs, and Leadership
Development Seminar. Prior to his arrival at WSU, he
taught at the University of Florida (eight years) and
at Texas State University (five years). Parkay also
taught for eight years and was department chair for
four years at a high school on Chicago's South Side.
