Research interests
David Cassels Johnson specializes in critical sociolinguistics and language policy research. He uses the ethnography of language policy and critical discourse analysis to study the interaction between language policies and educational opportunity for language learners.
Teaching/professional interests
Dr. Johnson teaches courses in the ELL/bilingual education specialization and the Ph.D. program in language and literacy education. He has taught courses in general linguistics, sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, and second language acquisition. Johnson was previously a visiting lecturer at the University of Equatorial Guinea, Africa, the University of Costa Rica, and Texas A&M University.
