Arlene Hett directs the School & Community Collaboration Center. The center was created in 1994 to increase College of Education collaboration with teachers and administrators, as well as school districts, social service agencies, businesses and communities.
Before joining the WSU faculty in 2008, she was director of Professional Education and Certification at the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction in Olympia, Washington. Her previous positions included elementary education teacher, reading specialist, college professor, dean of the School of Education at the University of Great Falls, and the director of Teacher Education at the University of Portland.
Research and professional interests
Dr. Hett's research is focused on Native American Education, Reading, and Educational Leadership. She has served on numerous state and national teams, committees, and organizations. She is a member of the NCATE Unit Accrediting Board.
