Wood is pursuing a Ph.D. in educational resarch, with an  interest is developing diagnostic tests
in math or science. She is a research assistant on the CREAM Grant (Culturally Relevant Engineering Applications in Math), working with Jennifer Beller to examine the possible impact of the CREAM grant on students' attitudes and anxiety about math and their math skills as shown by pre/post test measures and large-scale tests.

Wood holds a master's degree in intercultural studies and teaching English as a second language, and bachelor's degrees in biology and education. She has taught in many contexts including traditional and alternative high schools, a community college, and overseas.
