Certification & Endorsements

Registration for National Board Certification

WSU does not have a formal application process to participate in our NBPTS Support Program unless you are seeking graduate credit. Please contact Debra Pastore at: dpastore@wsu.edu or 509-335-7475 for admittance. Teachers will be contacted via email with program information including Candidate Orientation dates.

Please complete the following steps before attending the one-day Candidate Orientation (typically held during the last two weeks of June).

Go to the National Board home page. From here select:

  • For Candidates (second tab across the top) from the drop–down menu select
  • Certificate Areas – then select your
  • Subject Area – then select your
  • Development Area

After locating your Certificate Area documents, read through the:

  • Assessment at a Glance (10 pages)
  • Standards (75-80 pages)
  • General Portfolio Instructions (approximately 100 pages)
  • Portfolio Instructions (100 pages)
  • Interpreting your Score (30 pages) 
  • Scoring Guide (30 pages)
  • Evaluation of Evidence (10 pages)

Candidates should read these documents before attending the orientation.
