Welcome and introduction
Mike
Trevisan, Director
Assessment & Evaluation Center
The Assessment and Evaluation Center (AEC) , located in the College of Education, was established in 1997. Our staff of faculty, graduate students and other professionals aims to provide high-quality educational assessment and evaluation research and service to school districts, state agencies, university departments and other institutions. The work is supported through external grants and contracts. Our work is consistently published in scholarly journals and presented at national meetings.
A unique aspect of the center is that it also provides hands-on experiences and financial support for graduate students studying educational assessment and evaluation. Students take practicum credit as part of a Ph.D. program in educational psychology and learn to apply the research knowledge and skills obtained through graduate course work. Each academic year since 1998, two to four graduate students have received full support as a graduate research assistant. Please see the doctoral handbook for further information.
Much of the continuing work of the center involves assisting Washington school districts responding to the assessment-related demands that are part of education reform.
