Program accreditation

NCATE Accreditation

The College of Education is proud of its long-term affiliation with the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). Based on a 1996 accreditation review, certification programs in teacher education, school administration and school counseling at Washington State University carry full accreditation.

NCATE conducts a review of accredited programs every five years. In 2002, the WSU College of Education hosted a regularly scheduled continuing accreditation review. The Board of Examiners Report, prepared by the six NCATE representatives who visited WSU between April 13 and 17, 2002, noted that all NCATE accreditation standards were met in both the initial and the advanced preparation programs. The NCATE Unit Accreditation Board took formal action on October 2002 regarding continuing accreditation of professional preparation programs at WSU.0
